What we do below the waterline

Three lines of work, described plainly: what happens, roughly how long it takes, and how the price gets set. Everything is quoted per vessel, so the call is the fastest way to a real number.

Hull and boat cleaning

Routine work that keeps fuel burn down and keeps the vessel out of the yard. Most of it is done alongside on a working schedule.

In-water hull cleaning

Divers work the hull from waterline to keel with brushes and pads matched to the coating, so the antifoul is not stripped along with the growth. Soft fouling comes off quickly; barnacle and tube worm growth is slower and harder on the paint, which is why the interval matters more than the method.

Time on site
A 40 to 60 foot hull is usually a couple of hours in the water. Larger commercial hulls run half a day or more, depending on how long it has been.
How pricing works
Quoted per vessel, by length overall and how much growth is on her. Vessels on a regular interval cost less per clean because there is less to remove. Call with the length and roughly when she was last done.

Propeller and running gear

Props, shafts, struts and rudders cleaned and polished back to a smooth surface. This is the part of the hull where fouling costs the most: a rough propeller shows up as fuel burn and lost speed long before the hull does.

Time on site
Usually an hour or two on its own, or folded into a hull clean at the same visit for less than the two would cost separately.
How pricing works
Quoted per vessel, by the number and size of the props. Call with the configuration.

Sea chests and intake grates

Intakes and sea chest grates cleared of growth and debris so cooling water keeps moving. Blocked intakes turn into an engine room problem, and they are the part of the hull nobody looks at until the temperature alarm goes.

Time on site
Under an hour on most vessels, and normally done as part of a hull clean rather than as its own visit.
How pricing works
Quoted per vessel, by the number of intakes and how accessible they are.

Anode replacement

Sacrificial anodes checked and swapped in the water. We report what condition the old ones came off in, because a zinc that wasted faster than it should have is telling you something about the vessel's bonding or a stray current at the berth.

Time on site
An hour or so, and normally combined with a scheduled hull clean.
How pricing works
Quoted per vessel: labour by the number and location of the anodes, plus the anodes themselves. Call with the sizes if you know them.

Offshore services

Support away from the dock, for vessels and moorings that cannot come to us.

Mooring and anchor inspection

Ground tackle, chain, shackles and mooring gear inspected in place and reported on with photographs. What we are looking for is wear at the connections and where the chain works against the bottom, which is where moorings fail and is not visible from the surface.

Time on site
Half a day for a single mooring, depending on depth, visibility and how much ground tackle there is to follow.
How pricing works
Quoted per job, by depth and the number of moorings. Call with the location.

Vessel assistance on the water

Dive support for vessels working away from the dock — line handling, checks in the water, and hands on a job that needs someone below the surface while the vessel stays where she is.

Time on site
Scheduled around your operation and quoted by the day or half day, because the waiting is usually longer than the diving.
How pricing works
Quoted per job, by day rate and distance from Fort Lauderdale. Call with the dates and the position.

Subsea work

The jobs that come up unplanned — something fouled, something dropped, something damaged and nobody is sure how badly.

Underwater inspection and survey

A systematic look at the hull, running gear, rudders and anything else below the waterline, recorded as photographs or video. Used for condition reports, pre-purchase checks, insurance and damage assessment. You get the footage, not just our opinion of it.

Time on site
One to three hours for most vessels. Longer if we are documenting damage in detail rather than confirming general condition.
How pricing works
Quoted per vessel, by length and how much detail the report needs. Call and tell us who the report is for.

Recovery of dropped objects

Search and recovery for things that went over the side — tools, tenders, outboards, phones, gear off the deck. We search a pattern rather than guessing, and we will tell you upfront when the bottom conditions make recovery unlikely.

Time on site
An hour or two when the position is known and the bottom is clean. A silted bottom or a vague position takes considerably longer.
How pricing works
Quoted per job, by depth, bottom conditions and how well the position is known. Call as soon as it happens — the sooner we look, the smaller the search area.

Fouled line and debris removal

Rope, net, cable and debris cut clear of props, shafts and rudders. We check the shaft seal and bearing afterwards, because line that has been wrapped under load often leaves damage behind that matters more than the line did.

Time on site
An hour or two for a straightforward wrap. A tightly loaded wrap on a shaft takes longer and is slower work.
How pricing works
Quoted per job. Call and describe what is wrapped and whether the vessel has been run since.

Below-waterline repair

In-water repair work that keeps a vessel serviceable without a haul-out — sealing, securing and making good below the waterline. We are straight about which repairs are a proper fix and which are getting you to the yard safely, because the difference matters and it is not always obvious from the deck.

Time on site
Depends entirely on what is wrong. We inspect first, tell you what we have found, and quote the repair before starting it.
How pricing works
Quoted after inspection. The inspection is priced on its own so you are not committed to a repair before anyone knows what it is.

Not sure which of these it is

That is normal, and it is what the call is for. Describe what you are seeing and we will tell you what it usually turns out to be and what it takes to fix.
